Washington, D.C. – As
immigration and employee verification becomes
increasingly difficult, an expanded session
addressing those challenges will be featured at
the 2007 AMI Foundation Conference on Worker
Safety, Health & Human Resources, April 2-4,
2007, at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the
Colorado Convention Center.
During the
first half of the session, Katherine Lotspeich,
chief, outreach and education with the
Verification Division of U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services in the Department of
Homeland Security will discuss the BASIC Pilot
Employee Verification Program, including the
most recent optional photo verification
program, currently being tested by
employers.
In the second half of the
session, Katerina Gikas, national program
manager of Smuggling and Public Safety
Investigations with Immigrations and Customs
Enforcement in the Department of Homeland
Security will discuss the IMAGE program. The
program is currently being rolled out to
employers who have applied to belong to the
program. Gikas will describe the multi-part
program.
Following the second
presentation, the speakers will participate in
a joint question and answer session. This will
be an excellent opportunity to ask questions of
both representatives at the same time.
