We agree with the Secretary
of Agriculture’s comments that the government
of South Korea has not provided true market
access for U.S. beef. South Korea’s
standards are commercially unachievable and
offer no opportunity for resumption of beef
trade between our nations.
It is time
that all nations adhere to international animal
health standards set by the Office of
International Epizootics when trading in meat
products. If South Korea abided by these
standards, their citizens would have access to
U.S. beef, which is among the safest in the
world.
